Vocational Education and Training Delivered to Secondary Schools
VDSS – (Vocational Education and Training Delivered to Secondary Schools) courses provide additional breadth to the VCE. A Vocational Education and Training (VET) study provides a nationally recognised qualification endorsed by a specific industry or provides credit towards one. These programs are completed over 2 years (preferably Years 10 and 11) and provide a qualification or partial completion of a Certificate II or III. VET programs contribute towards the completion of the VCE or the VCE Vocational Major (VM) and, some VCE VET courses contribute towards a study score that counts towards a student’s Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR). VET is a compulsory study for students undertaking the VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM) pathway.
At Strathmore Secondary College, a maximum of one VET subject may be taken as part of a student’s course. It is not recommended that students do VET subjects as part of a Year 12 course, unless they are undertaking the VCE VM pathway. VET program offerings are restricted to those offered by selected providers. Please consult with the Applied Learning Coordinator, Vicki Bucher, for details regarding VET.
